How badly do you want to see a great Featherstone Rovers team trot out onto the Chris Moyles Pitch again?
Who's asking? FRISA - Featherstone Rovers Independent Supporters Association - is asking, because the only way its going to happen is if you, we, make it happen.
You, we can help make it happen in a number of ways and some you will already be doing them - much great work is being done off the field by the staff, the board, by other volunteers and by supporters club members and merchandise buyers.
What we at Frisa do is very specific, very targeted: We raise money that is ring fenced for spending solely on building the first team squad. This is money controlled not by the club, but by us, Frisa members.
The Bulk of our fund-raising is via members subscriptions, in which we ask a minimum of £5 per month. That is just £1.25 a week, which is a pint a week? A bit of loose change?
We supplement this by a variety of means. Blue Lagoon, Individual donations, the "spread and save campaign" car boot sales etc.
This means that the 120 or so Frisa members have been able to hand more than £50,000 over to the first team coach since our formation five years ago. The 2004 season was a great effort, Frisa handed out £13,000 to Gary Price, giving him the freedom to experiment with his squad and bring in players such as Zitter, Haughey, Ripley and Greseque. In 2005 we beat that and raised £14,000 to help cover the wages for Finn and Weeden.
It takes time, it takes effort, it takes money, it takes NEW members.
Frisa have already handed money over to pay costs for players such as Stuart Dickens, quality players like Stuart cost money. Imagine who we could sign if we had 2000 or 3000 members.
