National League, Community Club of the Year 2007

Last night the U21’s, with the help of a couple of old pro’s, continued their good start to the season. Gavin Swinson made a welcome return to action after six months out of the game and lead by example in a good 60 minute stint at Dewsbury. Leading 12-6 at half time the lads kicked on nicely in the second half to run out 26-12 winners, conceding a late try in the second half. Fine play from Matt Handforth and Arron Dobek along side Gavin Swinson and Jamie Benn saw great use of the ball and the full width of the Tetley Stadium Field. A promising display by Carl Burke was cut short with a shoulder injury after he had made an immediate impact from the bench. Scott Wilson and Scott Hutton also put in good performances under the watchful eye of Dave Hobbs.

Don’t forget, this Sunday’s first team clash with Dewsbury is a £20 Family gate; you can print your own form from the attachment and some for your friends and neighbours! Let’s show the lads our support after their tremendous display last weekend. They deserve it.

It was mentioned earlier in the week that the Study Rovers centre is in the process of a move, making way for the Club Shop which will be taking residency in the old Study Rovers Centre, well, this looks set to be competed in time for the Dewsbury fixture this weekend so why not pop in and see Graham, don’t forget to bring your cash! The Buccaneers will also have a new home this weekend, not too far from the shop as it happens! They have a number of events organised now for the kids including a fantastic visit to ‘The Forbidden Corner’ in the Yorkshire Dales, transport has been kindly covered by BL Travel for this trip taking place in late August. Make sure you call in and see what they have in store for the rest of the season!
