Featherstone Rovers are delighted to announce that Andy Ellis has joined the club on a permanent basis
Andy Ellis is no stranger to Featherstone Rovers supporters after joining the club on loan from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats midway through the 2012 season. The Hooker made seven appearances before being re-called by the Wildcats. His return to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium coincided with their excellent end of season form which saw the Wildcats win seven games in succession and reaching the end of season play-off series.
Ellis has experience at Hull KR, Barrow (where he was awarded Championship Man of Steel in 2009) before signing for Harlequins where an impressive two year stint led to a move to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Featherstone Rovers Head Coach Daryl Powell said "Andy spent some time with us this season which gave both us and him an opportunity to see how he fits into the way we play. He is a proven player both in the Championship and Super League competitions as his last eight appearances for Wakefield showed. His signing gives us strength in depth in all positions, with Ben Kaye playing outstanding rugby league this year. Andy's signing gives us great options at hooker."
On returning to the club Andy Ellis said "I'm happy to be joining Featherstone Rovers on a permanent basis. It's a great team with great lads and fantastic supporters. I look forward to working with everyone next year and hope I can contribute to another fantastic year. Good luck to everyone this coming weekend in the Grand Final, It's a well deserved end to an awesome season and lets hope we retain our title!"
