In 2003 a group of like minded people thought that Featherstone Rovers should have much closer links with the community around it. It was felt the club needed to take a greater interest and involvement in the life of Featherstone and the surrounding area.

To this end Study Rovers Learning Centre was formed based in the clubhouse in, what until then, had been the club shop and latterly an office. An I.C.T. facility was developed helped with grants from the 'West Yorkshire Police Community Fund' , Wakefield District Councils Study Support section, Featherstone Council and Garrard. Study Rovers initially provided I.C.T. training for adults during the week whilst on Saturday mornings provided a Saturday club for local youngsters.

In an attempt to expand the range of opportunities on offer by Featherstone Rovers, a bid was made under the government initiative - 'Playing for Success'. This is jointly funded by national and local government and, with the funding provided, a purpose built centre was developed at the entrance to the club- Featherstone ImpRovers. This was the first of this type of centre in WMDC. The funding also provided for a full time teacher to work with young learners from the district in this state of the art study support centre.

The third string to the Community Links 'bow' came about when a grant from the Local Education Authority made possible the appointment of a Community Development Officer who would work with young learners both at the club and in their own schools developing their Rugby League skills.

Featherstone Rovers has recently opened a GMB Learning Centre. This centre comes under the umbrella of Study Rovers and is part of the GMB's 'Conversion to Learning' project. This centre was set up to provide the players and staff at the club with educational and work based learning opportunities. It has now been opened to the local community and provides Adult ICT courses.
